Personally, I have moved 15 times - granted the first 6 were all on my parents and took me from New York to Ireland and back several times, until we finally settled in the family home I was married from. Then I started my own migrations from renting to home ownership and back again and even across state lines.
When I finally landed in my current home, I had bought and sold multiple homes and navigated the complexities of buying and selling at the same time twice all on my own. There are a lot of moving parts especially when crossing state lines as real estate practices differ from state to state. I wish I had been guided through the processes by more knowledgeable and invested professionals.
